Overview
La Grande Pièce is crafted exclusively from hand-harvested Cabernet Franc grapes grown on the limestone-rich slopes of Bourgueil in the Loire Valley. The wine reflects the unique microclimate of Val de Loire, where cool nights preserve acidity and aromatic intensity.
Terroir and Viticulture
The vines for La Grande Pièce thrive in well-drained clay-limestone soils that impart a distinctive minerality. Sustainable vineyard practices, including green harvesting and canopy management, ensure optimal ripening and balanced phenolic development.
Winemaking Process
Fermentation takes place in temperature-controlled stainless steel vats to preserve freshness, followed by partial aging in French oak barrels for up to 12 months. This blend of modern and traditional techniques enhances the wine’s complexity and aging potential.
Tasting Notes
Aromas of ripe red cherries, raspberry, and violet petals lead to a medium-bodied palate layered with soft tannins, subtle spice, and a chalky mineral finish. With aeration, the wine reveals hints of graphite and wild herbs.
Food Pairing
Pair La Grande Pièce with roast leg of lamb, duck breast, mushroom risotto, or an assortment of Loire Valley cheeses. Its vibrant acidity and refined structure also complement grilled vegetables and light stews.
Cellaring and Service
Serve at 16–18 °C and cellar for 3–8 years to allow further development. Decant younger vintages for 30–60 minutes to fully open the aromatic profile.
