VineyardChâteau Branaire-Ducru, a 4th Growth Classified Saint-Julien, has belonged to the Maroteaux family since 1988. The vineyard has an average vine age of 35 years, but many plots are around 50 years old. Some are even over a century old.
WinemakingHand-harvested. Vinification by plot using 75 suspended tanks, each dedicated to a specific grape variety. Maceration lasts approximately three weeks. The wine is then blended and aged for 18 months in oak barrels (60% new).
Tasting NotesA great success, with a beautiful structure, a crisp palate of dark fruit, a very fine texture, and a long finish. Wine Spectator: 94-97/100, JS: 95-96/100
