Burned down during the French Revolution, the Château de Barbe was rebuilt at the same time as the Grand Théâtre de Bordeaux by Victor Louis. It is a magnificent residence, overlooking the Gironde estuary, surrounded by its contiguous vineyard: 42 hectares of limestone slopes in the Côtes de Bourg appellation, 12 hectares in the Bordeaux appellation, and 13 hectares in the Bordeaux Supérieur appellation. It is here, on the banks of the estuary, that the "Chapelle de Brivazac" wine is produced.
