|Domaine L Ostal Cazes 2009
The 2009 vintage promises to be great and delicious. The year went smoothly with the weather, but will continue to be marked by a slight water deficit on the hillside plots. Following the rather cool months of June and July, August, which was particularly hot and dry, sharply accelerated the ripening of the berries. The few rainy episodes at the end of the month and the onset of cool nights slowed down this maturation sufficiently and helped to reach the desired optimum level. The particularly mild September offered ideal conditions of heat, wind and rain. The delicacy of the vintage consisted in patiently waiting for the perfect maturity of each of the property's plots. This naturally led to the most extensive harvest of the property: it began on September 1 for the youngest Syrahs and ended on October 6 with the Carignan!
Clear, deep garnet color. Intense, rich nose blending notes of liquorice, vanilla and eucalyptus. After stirring, aromas of citrus zest, menthol and garrigue emerge. On the palate, the attack is full, rich and full. The extremely fine tannins are accompanied by marked fat and freshness. Smooth, sweet finish and long aromatic persistence.
