Guigal is the leading wine merchant in the Rhône Valley. Owner and merchant Marcel Guigal now offers an impeccable range across almost all Rhône Valley appellations, including the renowned Côte-Rôtie wines: La Mouline, La Turque, and La Landonne, as well as, more recently, Château d'Ampuis. Only a few bottles of La Mouline are released each year. It is one of the estate's most emblematic wines, made from vines in the heart of the Côte Blonde.
Winemaking
The approximately 75-year-old grapes are vinified in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks, using traditional pump-overs. Alcoholic and malolactic fermentations last four weeks. The wine is then aged for 40 months in new oak barrels.
Grape Varieties: 89% Syrah, 11% Viognier
Alcohol: 14%
Tasting Notes: This wine boasts a ruby color with vermilion highlights and offers aromas of small red fruits, blackberry, and violet. The palate is supple and harmonious, with a beautiful aromatic intensity. It is seductive and persistent, with silky tannins.
Serving Suggestions: Serve at 16-18°C with grilled or sauced red meats, small or large game, poultry, or cheeses such as Livarot.
