Château La Nerthe is one of the most beautiful and renowned estates in Châteauneuf-du-Pape, with an exceptionally long history: by 1750, the vineyard covered nearly 50 hectares and was already exporting throughout Europe and even to Moscow. The first bottling at the estate took place in 1784. Today, under the management of Rémi Jean, the 92 hectares of vines are cultivated organically, without chemical fertilizers, herbicides, or synthetic pesticides.
Winemaking
Les Granières is made from the Château's younger vines. It is vinified with a long maceration, gentle extractions, and aged for twelve months in wooden vats.
Tasting Notes
The nose immediately reveals aromas of black cherry and kirsch, enhanced by sweet spices (cinnamon and sandalwood). Red fruits dominate, with hints of garrigue. The wine is supple and smooth, with a round and pleasing mouthfeel. The tannins are well-integrated and contribute to the wine's aromatic length. Les Granières offers immediate pleasure even in its youth.
