About Cave des Vignerons de Saumur
Founded in the 1960s by a group of dedicated vignerons, the Cave des Vignerons de Saumur has grown into one of the Loire Valley’s most respected wine cooperatives. United by a passion for quality and a deep respect for regional terroir, the members cultivate over 700 hectares of vineyards across the Saumur appellation.
Our Vineyard Terroir
Soils and Climate
The vineyards rest on tufa limestone subsoils, which lend our wines remarkable freshness and minerality. The temperate oceanic climate—with mild winters and warm summers—ensures ideal ripening conditions for both white and red grape varieties.
Signature Grape Varieties
Chenin Blanc
Renowned for its versatility, Chenin Blanc yields crisp, aromatic whites with notes of quince, white flowers, and honey. Our dry and demi-sec bottlings capture the grape’s vivacity and aging potential.
Cabernet Franc
Our Cabernet Franc reds display beautiful floral aromas, silky tannins, and flavors of red berries and pepper. They are perfect for cellar aging yet approachable when young.
Crémant de Loire
Expertly crafted using the traditional method, our sparkling Crémant de Loire delights with fine bubbles, bright acidity, and brioche notes—ideal for celebrations or as an aperitif.
Winemaking Philosophy
Our cellar masters combine state-of-the-art facilities with traditional techniques: gentle pressing, precise temperature control, and extended aging on lees for whites and sparklings. Every stage is guided by a single aim—authentic expression of the Saumur terroir.
