Staden Bordeaux är en enklav i Graves-regionen. Några av de mest kända vinerna finns i Bordeaux förorter. Graves-viner, som länge ansetts vara de bästa och mest eftertraktade Bordeaux-vinerna, har med rätta förnyat allmänhetens gunst under de senaste trettio åren. Gravarna var föremål för en specifik klassificering som fastställdes 1953 och 1959 på begäran av appellationsförsvarsförbundet. Nio viner klassificeras för sina vita viner, tretton för sina röda. De kan alla ha orden "cru Classé" på etiketten.
