Die Stadt Bordeaux ist eine Enklave in der Region Graves. Einige der berühmtesten Weine befinden sich in den Vororten von Bordeaux. Graves-Weine, die lange Zeit als die besten und gefragtesten Bordeaux-Weine galten, erfreuen sich in den letzten dreißig Jahren zu Recht erneuter Beliebtheit in der Öffentlichkeit. Die Gräber waren Gegenstand einer besonderen Klassifizierung, die 1953 und 1959 auf Antrag der Appellation Defense Union eingeführt wurde. Neun Weine werden für ihre Weißweine klassifiziert, dreizehn für ihre Rotweine. Sie alle können die Aufschrift „Cru Classé“ auf dem Etikett tragen.
