Product Overview
Maison Guigal’s Crozes-Hermitage Vin Rouge is a distinguished red wine hailing from the expansive appellation of Crozes-Hermitage in the Northern Rhône Valley. Known for its bold character and refined elegance, this cuvée embodies the essence of Syrah with depth, complexity, and superb drinkability.
Terroir and Viticulture
Sourced from granite-rich slopes overlooking the Rhône River, the vines benefit from optimal drainage and full sun exposure. Meticulous vineyard management and sustainable practices ensure the highest quality fruit, with yields carefully controlled to concentrate flavors.
Winemaking Process
After hand-harvesting, the Syrah grapes undergo gentle destemming and a cold soak to extract vibrant color and aromatic compounds. Fermentation takes place in stainless steel vats with regular pump-overs to enhance structure, followed by malolactic conversion for a round, velvety mouthfeel.
Aging and Maturation
The wine is aged for 12 months in a combination of new and seasoned French oak barrels, allowing a perfect balance between fresh fruit expression and subtle oak integration. This aging regimen contributes to the wine’s complex layers of spice, vanilla, and supple tannins.
Tasting Profile
Visually presenting a deep garnet hue, the nose offers enticing aromas of blackberry, dark cherry, olive brine, and peppercorn. The palate is rewarding with notes of blackcurrant, leather, smoked meat, and a hint of cocoa. The finish is long, with persistent spice and firm yet polished tannins.
Food Pairing and Serving
This versatile red is perfect alongside grilled lamb chops, beef bourguignon, or mushroom risotto. Serve at 16–18 °C to fully appreciate its aromatic complexity and silky texture. Ideal for both immediate enjoyment and short-term cellaring.
