About Les Chanteraines
Les Chanteraines Saumur-Champigny is an appellation d'origine protégée (AOP) that celebrates the purity of Cabernet Franc in one of the Loire Valley’s most acclaimed terroirs. Harvested from south-facing slopes of tuffeau limestone, this cuvée is produced by the Cave des Vignerons de Saumur, a renowned cooperative uniting over 500 winegrowers.
Vineyard & Terroir
The vines thrive on shallow, porous chalky soils that force deep root growth, lending the wine its signature mineral backbone. The continental climate, tempered by the nearby Loire River, ensures warm days and cool nights—ideal for preserving aromatic freshness and natural acidity.
Winemaking & Tasting Notes
Hand-harvested in small crates, the grapes undergo a gentle vinification in stainless steel tanks with controlled temperatures. A portion is matured in fine-grained oak barrels to add subtle complexity and round tannins.
Tasting reveals a vibrant ruby hue. The nose opens with wild strawberry, red currant and pressed violet petals. On the palate, red fruit flavors continue, framed by silky tannins and a crisp, chalk-driven finish that lingers with hints of graphite and spice.
Food Pairing & Serving Suggestions
Serve Les Chanteraines at 14–16°C with charcuterie boards, roast lamb, game birds or locally made goat cheese. Its fresh profile and balanced structure also complement Mediterranean dishes and mild cheeses.
Sustainable Winemaking
Committed to respect for nature, Cave des Vignerons de Saumur employs environmentally friendly viticulture: grass cover crops, minimal chemical interventions and energy-efficient winery practices.
