About Le Petit Clos
Terroir & Vineyard
Nestled on the limestone-rich slopes above the Lot River, Clos Triguedina’s vineyards benefit from optimal sun exposure and natural drainage. The clay-limestone soils impart a distinct minerality to the grapes, while the cool nights help preserve acidity and aromatic intensity.
Winemaking & Aging
Hand-harvested and carefully sorted, the Malbec grapes are fermented in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks to maintain fresh fruit character. A gentle pressing and brief aging period in French oak barrels refine the tannins and add subtle spice nuances without overwhelming the wine’s natural purity.
Tasting Notes
Pouring a deep ruby hue, Le Petit Clos opens with lively aromas of blackberry, black cherry, and a hint of violet. On the palate, ripe fruit flavors are supported by silky tannins and a backbone of minerality, leading to a smooth, lingering finish with notes of cocoa and sweet tobacco.
Food Pairing
This versatile Cahors red pairs beautifully with grilled lamb chops, beef skewers, and mushroom risotto. It also complements charcuterie boards, soft-ripened cheeses, and hearty stews, making it an ideal companion for both casual gatherings and festive dinners.
