Producer & Region

Jean-Maurice Raffault is a fourth-generation vigneron renowned for crafting expressive, terroir-driven wines in Chinon, Val de Loire. Situated on the southern banks of the Vienne River, his estate benefits from a unique blend of limestone and gravel soils that impart freshness and minerality to every bottle.

Vineyards & Terroir

The Les Lutinières vineyard occupies gently rolling slopes with excellent sun exposure. The soil profile combines fossil-rich limestone and well-draining gravel, allowing Cabernet Franc to develop intense aromatics and firm acidity. Vines are tended with minimal intervention, respecting the natural balance of the ecosystem.

Winemaking

Grapes are hand-harvested at optimal ripeness and sorted carefully in the vineyard. Fermentation takes place in temperature-controlled stainless steel vats, followed by malolactic conversion in older oak barrels. The wine is aged on fine lees for 9 to 12 months to enhance texture and complexity, without overpowering the varietal character.

Tasting Profile

Les Lutinières displays a medium-garnet color. The nose is dominated by red currant, raspberry and wild violet, with subtle notes of cocoa and graphite. On the palate, supple tannins support fresh acidity, leading to a persistent finish marked by mineral undertones and refined spice.

Food Pairing & Serving

This Chinon AOP is a versatile companion for roast lamb, herb-crusted pork, charcuterie platters and soft goat cheeses. Serve at 14–16 °C in a Burgundy-style glass to unleash its full aromatic range. Decanting for 30 minutes will further open up the bouquet.
