Overview
The Pinot Noir Rosé from Cave des Vins de Sancerre is an expression of Sancerre AOP’s unique terroir in the Loire Valley. Crafted exclusively from hand-harvested Pinot Noir grapes, this rosé showcases a pale salmon hue and a delicate bouquet of red fruits, white flowers and subtle minerality.
Terroir and Vineyard
Situated on the rolling limestone hills of Val de Loire, the vineyards of Sancerre benefit from cool continental influences and chalky soils. The well-drained terroir imparts a fine tension and mineral backbone to the wine, while preserving the purity of fruit.
Winemaking Process
Grapes are hand-picked at optimal ripeness in early September. After gentle pressing, the free‐run juice undergoes cool fermentation in stainless steel tanks to preserve fresh aromatics. The wine is aged on fine lees for several weeks to enhance texture and complexity before bottling.
Tasting Notes
On the nose, expect vibrant aromas of wild strawberries, raspberry and rose petals, with a hint of wet stone. The palate is crisp and lively, delivering flavors of red currant, cherry blossom and a subtle saline finish. The balanced acidity provides a clean, refreshing length.
Food Pairing
This Sancerre rosé pairs beautifully with fresh salads, grilled seafood, charcuterie and soft-ripened cheeses. It also complements Asian-inspired dishes, light pasta preparations and summer barbecues.
Serving and Storage
Serve chilled at 8–10 °C (46–50 °F). Best enjoyed within 1–2 years of release to appreciate its youthful freshness. Store horizontally in a cool, dark place away from vibrations.
