Estate & Terroir
Located in the heart of Graves, Château Chantegrive has been owned by the Lalande family since 1972. The estate spans 95 hectares of gravelly soils, ideal for deep-rooted vines that produce concentrated, well-balanced grapes.
Tasting Notes
Appearance
Deep ruby red with crimson highlights.
Aroma
Complex bouquet of blackcurrant, plum, cedar, and subtle truffle notes.
Palate
Full-bodied and silky, with layers of dark fruit, spice, and fine-grained tannins leading to a long, mineral finish.
Winemaking
The red blend typically combines Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Cabernet Franc. Grapes are hand-harvested and sorted, fermented in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks, then aged 12–18 months in French oak barrels (30% new) to develop structure and aromatic depth.
Food Pairing & Serving
Serve at 16–18°C. Pairs beautifully with roasted lamb, duck confit, aged cheeses, and mushroom risotto.
Aging Potential
This wine rewards cellaring: drink from 3–5 years after vintage, with peak enjoyment over the next 10–15 years.
