Vineyard & Terroir
Origin
Located in the heart of Madiran, Château Montus benefits from limestone and clay-stony soils that drain well and retain heat. The altitude and cool nights preserve acidity, while warm days maximize phenolic ripeness.
Grape Selection
100% estate-grown Tannat is hand-harvested at optimal maturity. Yields are kept low to concentrate flavors and tannic structure.
Winemaking Process
Fermentation
Wild yeasts initiate fermentation in stainless steel vats, allowing gentle extraction of color and tannins over a 3-week maceration.
Elevage
The wine is aged for 18 months in 100% new French oak barrels, imparting fine spice, vanilla and toast notes that integrate seamlessly with the fruit.
