E. Guigal - Condrieu
Rhône Valley - Condrieu AOP
Vineyard
Domaine Guigal was founded in 1946 by Etienne Guigal in Ampuis, a small ancient village and cradle of the Côte-Rôtie appellation. It is home to a unique vineyard where vines and wine have been celebrated for 2400 years. Arriving in 1924 at the age of 14, the founder vinified 67 harvests. In 1961, although very young, Marcel Guigal took over the management of the House alongside his father. He was joined in 1973 by his wife Bernadette and they worked together to develop the family business. 1975 marked the birth of their son Philippe, today director and oenologist of the house. Accompanied by his wife Eve, he represents the 3rd generation and continues the family work serving the Great Wines of the Rhône Valley. Domaine Guigal today owns 75 hectares of very steep vines cultivated on terraces in Côte-Rôtie, Condrieu, Hermitage, Saint-Joseph and Crozes-Hermitage.
Winemaking
The vinification takes place in new rooms for a third and in stainless steel vats for the rest, with temperature control around 18°C. Malolactic fermentations are followed by aging for approximately 8 months.
