Heritage and Terroir

Nestled on the gentle slopes of Montagne-Saint-Émilion, Château Bel Air benefits from well-drained limestone and clay soils. The estate’s vines, averaging 30 years of age, are meticulously maintained to express the unique microclimate of the Right Bank.

Winemaking Process

Grape Varieties

Predominantly Merlot (85%) with Cabernet Franc (15%), each variety is hand-harvested and sorted at the vineyard.

Fermentation & Aging

Cold maceration precedes a 20-day fermentation in temperature-controlled stainless steel vats. The wine then matures for 12 months in French oak barrels (30% new), lending a subtle vanilla and toast character.

Tasting Notes

Appearance: Deep ruby red with violet highlights.
Aroma: Ripe black cherry, plum, cedar wood, graphite and a hint of violet.
Palate: Juicy and full-bodied, with silky tannins, balanced acidity and a lingering finish of dark fruit and spice.

Food Pairings

This versatile Bordeaux pairs beautifully with:

  • Roast lamb or beef
  • Duck confit
  • Wild mushroom risotto
  • Aged Comté or Gouda cheese

Serving & Aging Potential

Serve at 16–18 °C (60–65 °F). Enjoy upon release or cellar until 2030 for greater complexity. Decanting 30 minutes prior to serving will enhance aromatics.
