Produced for the first time in 1985, this Madiran 100% Tannat shocked the world by surpassing the first great French wines in many tastings, thus putting this local grape variety center stage. The Prestige cuvée of Château Montus comes from the selection of the best terroirs of the vineyard and represents what Tannat can give best. It is also almost entirely sold en primeur.

Vinification and Aging
Maceration for 3 to 6 weeks.
Fermentation at 28°C in wooden vats.
Pigeage, malolactic fermentation in new barrels on the lees.
Aging in new barrels (100%) for 14 to 16 months.
An atypical, generous character, an amplitude of the elements, depth, a discreet and complex fruit. Rich and opulent wine.
Some years, balsamic, chimney tar, cocoa, much sought after by cigar aficionados.
