Pommard is one of the most famous towns on the Côte de Beaune and is known for its red wines. The soils are brown / red rich in hard limestone from the piedmont and give wines among the most tannic and robust Burgundy. They are more powerful than their Beaune neighbors and it is often said that they are male wines.
