Mercurey Henri de Villamont

In the last decade of the 19th century, Léonce Bocquet, owner of the famous Château du Clos de Vougeot and the 52 hectares that surround it, decided to have vast cellars built for vinification and aging of wines from his various estates. He entrusted the production, which lasted 8 years, to Albert Switzerland, professor at the School of Fine Arts. Cellars with a total area of 2,400 m2, with a vault height of 6 meters were built, all topped with buildings mixing red brick and gray stone, and with slate roofing. An engraved stone bears the date of 1888 which marked the completion of the works.
