|La Croix Ducru-Beaucaillou
||La Croix de Beaucaillou 2016 is a blend of 64% Cabernet Sauvignon, 33% Merlot and 3% Petit Verdot, aged 60% in new oak barrels for 12 months and the rest in one-year barrels. It has a fairly rich and opulent bouquet, quite bright with aromas of kirsch, crushed strawberries, crème de cassis and a touch of vanilla. The medium-bodied palate is balanced by quite sumptuous tannin but a fine vein of acidity (the pH is 3.65). There is great tension here, immense purity with a fairly structured, almost flinty, classic-style finish. Although this is a second wine, it deserves several years in the bottle.
